A REAL BRAIN.
LIVE ON BNB CHAIN.
the real map of a chimpanzee brain, 244 regions, running live. every block of BNB Chain and every trade on Binance moves it.
scroll · the mark is a solid, seen from the front
the public BNB/USDT stream of Binance, read straight from your browser. once a second, one pulse: buys hit the left insula, sells hit the right. the half that took the hit washes hot, and it fades in about a quarter of a second.
drag him sideways to look at that half. press and hold to stop the clock on one second, and it stays lit for as long as you hold it. your finger sends nothing to binance: it only stops the clock.
the price is printed for you to read. the brain runs on the trades.
the head was drawn from three views. what takes its place was measured: the cortical surface of the ChimpBNA atlas, 64,984 vertices, from the brain scans of 46 chimpanzees.
one plate lifts, the other prints: two objects, and the page shows you which is which.
what exists for the chimpanzee is a measured 244 × 244 wiring matrix. a model of brain regions runs on it, and a shuffled copy of the same wiring runs beside it as the control.

the whole animal this time, and not only his head. the same second of BNB/USDT that lit the insula above picks one behaviour from a list of eleven. the list was written before the first run and it is printed below, in the order it is read. he acts the second out, and nothing he does goes back to binance. move the pointer and he follows it; tap him and he startles.

the same second on the atlas · 244 regions · measured · bnb/usdt · shown, never used
| # | the second | what he does |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | no trades for 12 seconds | sits down and dozes off |
| 2 | the first trade after dozing | wakes up and looks up |
| 3 | buys win and the second is full (40+ trades) | jumps |
| 4 | buys win, amp 0.70 or more (24+ trades) | pounds his chest |
| 5 | buys win five seconds in a row | throws both hands up |
| 6 | sells win, amp 0.70 or more | stomps the ground |
| 7 | sells win five seconds in a row | crouches |
| 8 | a single trade in the whole second | shrugs |
| 9 | buys win three or four seconds in a row | rubs his hands |
| 10 | sells win, amp under 0.70 | scratches his head |
| 11 | anything else | stands and breathes (five idles, one per loop) |
the first rule that applies wins. a rule higher up the list can interrupt him; the same rule or a lower one waits for the clip to end. amp is how hard the insula was hit that second: it grows with the number of trades, so 0.70 means 24 trades.
the body was drawn in the style of the head, turned into a mesh and rigged with twenty-two clips from a stock library. the atlas next to him is the measured one, and the mark on its left or right insula is the same second he is acting out; he glances at it every time it lights. what you do to him (poke, arrive) is printed in the same place and stays out of the log.
